Working Late ....

Being an environmentally sensative little Dinosaur, Dino regularly car pools with members of his team. Generally, this is not a problem. Tonight however, Dino's ride had to work late.

What is a little Dinosaur to do? As Team Morale Officer, there is not a lot of work he could do after hours. Not wanting to distract his co workers, dino had to find ways to ameuse himself.

Dino And The Peace Offering Cookies (Part Three)

After a long weekend of cooking, Monday morning finally rolled around and it was time for Dino to take his cookies to work."Finally", thought Dino, "I will get to gorge myself on cookies, but not Evil Tim's cookies, they are for my best friend and my best friend only."

When 3pm rolled around, Dino laid out the cookies on his desk. He was as proud as punch of the cookies he and Grandma had made on the weekend. The grin on his little face grew and grew as people came over to try his cookies.

Introducing my Gingerbread Dinosaurs, they look just like me. Grandma iced these ones for me, I can't quite get the hang of using the icing bag, its a bit too big for me. Why don't they make dino-sized icing bags? Dinos make cookies too you know!

See, the cookies look just like me. We are both purple, have orange spikes and white hair.

I iced these Gingerbread Dinosaurs all by myself! Actually, grandma held the nozzle over the cookie while I jumped on the bag to make the icing squirt out. It was great fun

MMM special cookies. These ones are for Evil Tim. Hope he can eat them all!

Evil Tim and Dino, best friends. No you cant eat me, but have a cookies instead

Hehe, Evil Tim has found the photos I put under the cookies. Van Wilder style

Evil Tim taking a closer look at what I did to the cookies. Do you think he is starting to worry?

Nearly all the cookies are gone now, so now I can take a photo to show you the pictures I put underneath the cookies.

I think Mr Steve accidentally ate one of Evil Tim's special cookies.....oh dear. I think I'd better go hide someplace, he doesn't look too happy

This looks like a good place. No one will find me up here!

Safe, in his hiding place Dino sat and watched the rest of the cookies get eaten and the events of the day unfold. People rushing here, people rushing there. It almost seemed like a normal day at the office, until you looked down at the floor and found piles of cookie crumbs.

Dino And The Peace Offering Cookies (Part Two)

Finally, the weekend had arrived and Dino could bake his cookies! Dino spent the morning bounding excitedly around the house waiting for grandma to finish what she was doing so that he could have the entire kitchen to himself. Dino had never made cookies before and it was all new and exciting.

Dino decided to start with the chocolate chip cookies. He couldn't wait to make extra special ones for Evil Tim.

The afternoon soon came around and it was time for Dino to start cooking. Dino scampered across the clean kitchen floor to where the cookbooks were kept, feet slipping all the way. I don't know why grandma had bothered to clean the kitchen floor that day, it was guaranteed that there would be little white dinosaur prints up and down it by the end of the afternoon.

Once Dino had found his recipe and sat the book in it's stand, it was time to bake cookies!

Step One: Cream 125g of butter. Cream the butter? What do you mean? Cream isn't made from butter!

Step two: Sift 1 1/2 cups of self raising flour. Yay, time to make a mess!

Step three: Add 1/2 a cup of coco powder. Mmmm coco. The essence of all good cookies.

Step four: Introducing the special ingredient .... mwahahaha! Or if you want to be nice 3/4 of a cup of chocolate chips (alternatively the whole packet)

Step five: Mix in the "chocolate" along with anything else we need, like one egg, 3/4 cup of caster sugar, 1 cup of brown sugar and 1 teaspoon of vanilla essence

Step six: This is the fun bit. Roll the mixture and cut out cookie shapes. Then place the cookie cutouts onto a greased baking tray and pop the tray into a moderate oven for 10 to 15 min.

Step seven: Take the cookies out the oven and eat! Or rather take the cookies out the oven and pop them on a rack to cool. When the cookies have cooled put them on a plate and pop them into the fridge.

Phew one batch of cookies down. One to go. Dino had a fantastic afternoon cooking chocolate chip cookies, but he didn't realise how tiring cooking was. Poor Dino didn't have enough energy to bake his gingerbread dinosaurs. Thankfully, grandma had already thought of that and spent the morning making them for him.

"Thank you grandma! You are an absolute legend", yelled Dino as he wandered off down the kitchen floor to his bedroom for a nice long nap. Sure enough, there were little white dinosaur foot prints trailing behind him over the previously clean kitchen floor.

Time for Grandma to clean the kitchen floor again.

Dino And The Peace Offering Cookies (Part One)

The story takes place one Friday afternoon, when Dino and Evil Tim were working at ERG. They had been pranking each other for a good year or so, by this time. One day Evil Tim pushed Dino too far and Dino bit him. Bad Dino!

Dino felt terrible about this, despite all the things Evil Tim had done, he was still his best friend. Dino wanted to make it up to Evil Tim, so he decided to make some gingerbread dinosaurs as a peace offering. "Something from the heart that takes a little effort is much better than a shop brought gift", though Dino. Cookies seemed the perfect choice.

Unfortunately, Dino didn’t have all of the ingredients for the cookies at home, so he had to go shopping. Thankfully, the Stirling shopping center was close to work. Dino spent his entire lunchtime walking up and down the isles of Action, trying to remember all the things he needed. First things first, he needed a basket.

Now we have a basket, lets go shopping

Now that Dino had his basket it was time to shop for cookies ingredients. Om nom nom. Every good cookie needs flour, so off Dino went, scurrying down the isle as fast as his little legs would take him.

You can't mess up a kitchen without flour!

Next on the list was brown sugar. Dino wanted his gingerbread Dinosaurs to be made of "sugar and spice, and all things nice" just like him. Why gingerbread Dinosaurs I hear you ask? The theory is (at least to Dino), is that if people make gingerbread men, then Dinos make gingerbread dinosaurs. And because Dinos are better then men, these cookies will be awesome!

MMMM sugar, sweet like me!

Seeing as a lot of people at ERG have been so nice to him, Dino decided that he would make cookies for them too. Not everyone likes gingerbread, but everyone loves chocolate! Variety is the spice of life! Mmm chocolate chip cookies *drools*.

MMM chocolate. Om nom nom nom

All of a sudden, Dino had a great idea for a prank to play on Evil Tim. Dino was sorry for biting him, but was still annoyed at having been wound up like that. "Lets make some extra special cookies for Evil Tim", said Dino as he bounded down the isle away from the food and towards the personal care section. What is Dino up to?

An extra special ingredient for my best friend!

The last thing on Dino's shopping list were cookie cutters. Dino already had a dinosaur cookie cutter at home, but he felt he needed a different shapes for the chocolate chip cookies, especially the special ones for Evil Tim. "Nothing better than having lots of different shapes, especially as Evil Tim is such a curious cat, he wont be able to help himself", thought Dino, "He will try them all."

Yay, lots of different shapes for Evil Tim to try!

The cookie cutters were the last item on the shopping list, but just to make sure, Dino hopped in the basket and to double check.

Flour, sugar, chocolate, special ingredient .... mwahahaha

Indeed, Dino had everything he came for, now it was time to head to the checkout to pay for all of his goodies and return to work. It will be hard keeping the surprise of cookies to himself, but I'm sure he will manage.

Like ants, Dino's are able to carry object much larger than themselves!

Dino And The Christmas Cookie Tree Kit

Christmas is this little Dinosaur’s favourite time of year – there are lots of social events to attend and plenty presents! When I talk about presents, is not just about receiving, but also about giving. I for one, love to make people happy (its my job), and I find that there is nothing better than the smile on one’s face when you give them a super present, one that truly comes from the heart.

A few weeks ago, mum went shopping and came home with a Christmas Cookie Tree kit from Big W. She had been looking at buying a set like this for ages but all the ones she had seen in online shops were very expensive. This one was ½ the price of the others she had found and she could not resist buying it.

Christmas Cookie Tree Kit from Big W (purchased December 2007). This kit contains six different sized star cookie cutters as well as a stand to slide the cookies onto so they do not fall off.

This Christmas Cookie Tree Kit comes with a basic cookie recipe. It is very yummy. Mummy made the cookies tree and left it for me to decorate. Cooking is hard for such a little dinosaur - the bowls and spoons are much larger than me!

I’m sure no one will notice if I have a little nibble!

Icing the cookie tree was good fun. The Christmas Cookie Tree Kit came with a recipe for royal icing. The icing is very yummy and sets nice and hard so that everything stays in place.

The cookie tree kit does not show a star on the top of the tree. It was mummy’s idea. “You can not have a tree without a star”, she said. I think it is a great idea. If you are the first person to take a cookie, you get two cookies because the star is glued to the first cookie in the tree!

Icing the tree is easy. Just add some food colouring to your icing mixture and pipe away. The picture on the Christmas Cookie Tree Kit shows icing applied so that it looks like icicles, but I wanted to make a tree that looks like the one we had in our lounge room last year. Instead of icing icicles, I made some icing tinsel. You have to be careful when making tinsel icing as the icing can break, but if you are careful, you can find a way down the tree so that your icing does not have to span large gaps.

Making tinsel out of icing is good fun. Be careful not to stretch it too far between branches because it may break.

Once you have added the first colour tinsel, make up another colour, and follow similar lines down the tree.

Adding the icing tinsel to your tree is just like adding real tinsel to a real tree. It looks awesome.

If you have some icing left over, you can make some presents using Jersey Caramels and/or Licorice Allsorts. Simply, trail some icing over the top and sides of your “presents” so that it looks like ribbon. At this point, you can use some of your left over icing to glue Mini M&Ms to the ends of the branches so that they look like Christmas tree lights.

Don’t forget to make some yellow icing and colour the star in.

Once you have the hang of what you are doing, make up a few more colours and add more tinsel to your tree; ribbon to your presents; and, Mini M&M Christmas tree lights to your tree.

When the icing on your presents has set, arrange them under the tree.

And there we have it, a Christmas Cookie
Tree by Dino! MMM yummy.

Merry Christmas everyone!

Love Dino xxx

Welcome To Digital Dino Digest

Welcome to "Digital Dino Digest", an online library housing the complete adventures of a cute little dinosaur named Dino.

Dino was adopted from the "Carnival Shooting Gallery Adoption Agency", located at the 2004 Perth Royal Show. He was the result of a slight shooting accident. Somehow a collection of corks shot from my gun managed to knock down a stack of cans and from that moment on I was the legal guardian of this cute little purple dinosaur.

Soon after adoption, Dino went to work at ERG, which at that point, was the workplace of Antequonopolistantes, Xpread, Azathoth and Peeb. Soon after starting, Dino was promoted to "Team Moral Officer"; because of his vibrant personality and ability to make any stressed out team member smile.

Dino loved his new position, he would run across the top of the cubical walls, reward people with surprise chocolate Freddo Frogs if they were extra stressed and sometimes he would spend a few days at someone’s desk looking down from the top of their monitor. Dino’s aim in life is to make people smile.

It wasn’t long before one of the team members (Xpread aka Evil Tim) decided it would be funny to hang him using a serial cable attached to the top of my monitor!! From that moment on poor Dino had to watch his back :(. Over the years, Evil Tim has done quite a few things to our intrepid little dinosaur, including, paper clip chain mail, roof suspension, PCP hide and seek.

This blog aims to share Dino's adventures with all who whish to read it. I hope that I will be able to remember them all.

Thankyou for reading,

Darkbyte.
